Kindness or “Metta” as Practice
In Buddhism, “metta” or kindness is considered a fundamental virtue and a central aspect of the path to liberation. Buddhism teaches that kindness is cultivated through deliberate practice, particularly through meditation – mettā bhāvanā. This practice involves generating goodwill, starting with oneself and gradually extending to others, including a good friend, neutral people and even those perceived as enemies.
Join Buddhist Order members Dharmasara from Germany and Aryapala from Australia for a day retreat focused on meditation and cultivating skills to bring greater meaning to your life. With their depth, breadth, and refreshing sense of humor, they offer a down-to-earth approach that inspires the courage to be yourself.
What to expect
The sessions will be a mix of presentation, practice, interaction and inquiry, and may feature breakout groups. We will break for lunch at 13:30 to dine at a nearby restaurant and resume again at 14:45. Finishing the day at 16:30.
Emotional Strength in Kindness or “Metta”
Kindness in Buddhism is deeply connected with emotional strength in several ways.
Resilience Against Negativity: Kindness requires overcoming usual trends such as anger, fear or resentment. Extending goodwill even to difficult individuals builds emotional resilience, since it transforms negative emotional patterns into positive states.
Inner Stability: By practicing the cultivation of goodness or “metta”, one develops a warehouse of emotional positivity that allows us to remain much more composed in challenging situations.
All are warmly welcome to the day retreat.
If you are a beginner or seasond practitioner, there will be something for eveyone. We will teach you effective meditation practices and give tips on maintaining a comfortable posture. Helping you integrate meditation into your daily life.

At the heart of this community is the Triratna Buddhist Order. The Order is neither monastic, nor lay, but simply Buddhist. Order members attempt to live out the Buddha’s teachings of Wisdom and Compassion as the primary commitment of their lives, whatever the particular circumstances of those lives may be.
